L-Idaric acid inhibits the production of inflammatory mediators, such as prostaglandins, leukotrienes, and cytokines. L-Idaric acid also inhibits the activity of β-glucuronidase, which may be responsible for its ability to prevent the degradation of glucuronic acid derivatives.
