4-Isopropyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)acetic acid (IPTA) is a precursor to azides that can be used in the synthesis of drugs. IPTA is an intermediate in the production of triazole drugs. It has been shown to be an efficient and reliable reagent for the synthesis of azides. The reaction between IPTA and sodium azide produces 4-(4-nitrophenoxy)butanoic acid and 4-(4-nitrophenoxy)butyrate, which are intermediates in the preparation of 1,3,5-triazole drugs with good activity against malaria parasites.
