6-Methyldiosgenin acetate is a saponin that is found in the plant Balanites aegyptiaca. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor effects, as well as antioxidant properties. 6-Methyldiosgenin acetate also has been shown to stimulate the production of nitric oxide (NO) in endothelial cells, which may contribute to its anti-inflammatory effects. The chemical structure of 6-methyldiosgenin acetate is similar to that of furostanol and spirostanol, which are both saponins found in plants that can be used for the treatment of cancer.
