Beschreibung

Salicylic acid-acyl-b-D-glucuronide is an anti-inflammatory compound that is found in the urine of diabetic patients. It has been shown to inhibit the production of a number of proinflammatory compounds, including prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), in human serum. Salicylic acid-acyl-b-D-glucuronide is formed by the reaction of salicylic acid with acetylsalicylic acid. The rate of formation is dependent on the concentration of salicylic acid and pH. The reactive product can form covalent adducts with tyrosinase and other proteins, leading to inhibition of tyrosinase activity and melanin synthesis.
