1,2,3,4-Tetra-O-acetyl-b-D-xylopyranose is a sugar that is used as a regulatory agent in the synthesis of other sugars. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of lipolytic enzymes in vitro and may be useful for controlling obesity. 1,2,3,4-Tetra-O-acetyl-b-D-xylopyranose is also able to disrupt the structure of bacterial membranes and has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on p. aeruginosa.
