Acetoacetyl CoA has been shown to inhibit the replication of HIV, HSV-1 and HSV-2, influenza virus, and cytomegalovirus (CMV). The mechanism of action is not yet known but may be related to its ability to activate cellular DNA polymerase β. Acetoacetyl CoA also has a high purity and quality, as well as being modified for use in phosphoramidites.
