• Beschreibung: 2-Hydroxybutyl methacrylate is a monomer with a hydroxy group. It is soluble in organic solvents such as acetone, chloroform, and tetrahydrofuran. It polymerizes by the addition of an initiator that generates the hydroxyl group on the molecule. 2-Hydroxybutyl methacrylate has been shown to form laminar morphology and morphologies, which are characterized by parallel bands of regular thickness. The solvent used for polymerization can affect the morphology; for example, when 2-hydroxybutyl methacrylate is polymerized in chloroform or methylene chloride it forms rod-shaped molecules. 2-Hydroxybutyl methacrylate has been used as a staining agent for electron microscopy.
