1-(2-Ethoxyphenyl)piperazine is a chemical compound that inhibits the enzyme cholinesterase, which is involved in the breakdown of acetylcholine. It also has a vasodilatory effect and can cause symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea, and abdominal pain. 1-(2-Ethoxyphenyl)piperazine is synthesised from an arylpiperazine and an activated linker group.
1-(2-Ethoxyphenyl)piperazine inhibits the activity of acetylcholine esterase (AChE), which is important for the transmission of nerve impulses at neuromuscular junctions. 1-(2-Ethoxyphenyl)piperazine binds to the AChE active site and prevents it from breaking down acetylcholine into choline and acetic acid. This leads to increased levels of acetylcholine in synapses, resulting in muscle contraction or relaxation
