Produktinformation
Formylpenicillamine is a formylated derivative of penicillin that acts as an antibiotic. It is an organic molecule which interacts with beta-lactamases by forming a covalent bond with the catalytic mechanism, thereby inhibiting their function. The formyl group in the molecule interacts with the heterocyclic ring of the enzyme, while the benzylpenicillin moiety binds to the beta-lactamase, leading to inhibition. Formylpenicillamine has been shown to be effective against organisms such as Bacillus licheniformis and Staphylococcus aureus, although it does not work against Pseudomonas aeruginosa or Enterobacteriaceae. The chemical structure of formylpenicillamine consists of an alkynyl group and an arylalkyl group.
