It binds to the TRPV4 ion channel and activates it, which results in an increase in the intracellular concentration of cations and an influx of calcium. This response has been shown to be mediated by calmodulin binding and GSK 205 also stimulates pancreatic enzyme secretion by activating the cytosolic Ca2+ response element-binding protein (CREB) pathway. The CREB pathway is involved in cell proliferation and differentiation, as well as memory formation. GSK 205 has been shown to have no adverse effects on skin cells when used at physiological levels.
