It is a pharmacological agent that regulates the intracellular levels of cAMP and plays an important role in regulating cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. 8-Br-cAMP binds to specific protein kinases and alters their activity. It also inhibits the enzymatic activity of DNA polymerase II. 8-Br-cAMP has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in mice with bone cancer.
