2,6-Dichloro-4-methylnicotinamide is a compound that has been shown to react with the cyclization of anilines. The reaction occurs when the 2,6-dichloro-4-methylnicotinamide reacts with aniline in the presence of a base. This reaction is facilitated by the x-ray diffraction technique. The cyclization of 2,6-dichloro-4-methylnicotinamide also results in a tautomeric shift from 4-(2,6 dichloro methyl) nicotinoyl chloride to 4-(2,6 dichloro methyl) nicotinyl chloride.
