Beschreibung

2'-Deoxy-4-thiouridine is an analog of thiouridine, which is a nucleoside that is found in RNA. It has been shown to have a reactive form that can denature the DNA template, thus preventing the synthesis of DNA. This drug has been shown to be effective against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and may be used as a therapeutic agent for HIV patients. 2'-Deoxy-4-thiouridine binds to nucleotide sequences with high binding constants and may be synthetically produced from subtilisin. The photochemical properties of this drug are also interesting because it can be used as a chemotherapeutic agent for cancer treatment.
