Beschreibung

Guanosine 5'-monophosphate (GMP) is a nucleotide that is involved in the synthesis of ATP. It also has inhibitory properties on enzymes that catalyze reactions in the citric acid cycle and the electron transport chain, which are important for energy metabolism. GMP is found at high concentrations in the brain and cerebrospinal fluid, where it serves as a neurotransmitter. GMP inhibits complex enzymes that catalyze reactions in the citric acid cycle and electron transport chain, which are important for energy metabolism. This drug has been shown to inhibit mouse tumor growth when given by injection into the abdomen. The antitumor effects of GMP may be due to its ability to induce cytosolic Ca2+ release from brain cells or its inhibition of cyclic AMP production by inhibiting adenylate cyclase activity.
