Beschreibung

2',3'-O-Isopropylideneuridine is an inhibitor of the pestivirus, which is a member of the family Poxviridae and causes disease in humans. It has been shown to inhibit binding of pestivirus inhibitors by monoclonal antibodies. 2',3'-O-Isopropylideneuridine was also found to inhibit the replication of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in tissue culture. 2',3'-O-Isopropylideneuridine binds to the viral RNA polymerase and inhibits its activity, preventing viral replication. The drug has been shown to be active against HIV-1 and HIV-2 isolates, as well as against a variety of other viruses that infect humans, such as Hepatitis C virus and herpes simplex virus type 1.
