Beschreibung

Nilotinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that is used to treat chronic myeloid leukemia and Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia. It is also being studied for use in the treatment of other cancers, including breast cancer and gastrointestinal stromal tumor. Nilotinib inhibits the activity of tyrosine kinases, which are enzymes that regulate cellular processes such as cell division and differentiation. This effect causes cells to stop dividing or die. Nilotinib has been shown to be effective against chronic myeloid leukemia by inhibiting BCR-ABL, the protein associated with this disease, as well as other tyrosine kinases involved in cancer progression. The drug has proven successful in clinical trials involving patients with Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
