Beschreibung

Avermectin B1 is a chemical compound with a structure similar to avermectin. It is an insecticide that targets the mitochondria of invertebrates, and has been shown to have effects on the fertility of mammals. Avermectin B1 has been shown to decrease membrane potential in mammalian cells, which causes hyperpolarization. This results in the inhibition of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors. It also inhibits myeloid leukemia cell growth and has shown protective effects against toxicity caused by other chemicals such as benzoate. The analytical method for Avermectin B1 is a bioassay using the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. Bioassays are conducted by measuring the number of offspring produced by male worms following exposure to various doses of avermectins.
