Beschreibung

Cistanoside A is a flavonoid that has been found in the water-soluble fraction of the aerial parts of the plant, Fructus ligustri. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and cytoprotective effects. Cistanoside A has also been shown to inhibit HIV infection by blocking viral entry into cells. This compound inhibits cell proliferation by inducing apoptosis and inhibiting protein synthesis. It also inhibits proliferation of cervical cancer cells and induces cancer cell death. Cistanoside A is effective against polycystic ovarian syndrome in rats and inhibits tumor growth in a rat liver microsomes study. In vitro studies have shown that Cistanoside A can inhibit the growth of human cancer cells (colon carcinoma) through inhibition of protein synthesis.
