Jujuboside B is a triterpenoid saponin found in jujube fruit. It is an active component of the medicinal preparation, Ganoderma lucidum, which has been used in Chinese medicine and as a food supplement. Jujuboside B has been shown to bind to the response element-binding protein (REBP) and activate transcription of genes involved in fatty acid metabolism, such as lipase and acyl-CoA synthetase. In vitro studies have shown that jujuboside B significantly increases the release of free fatty acids from adipocytes and upregulates gene expression for lipolysis enzymes such as hormone-sensitive lipase.
