Kanamycin A related Compound 1 is a bioactive molecule with antiviral activity. It has been shown to inhibit the enzyme activity of influenza virus neuraminidase, which is necessary for the release of virions from infected cells. This compound also has antibacterial properties against soil bacteria and can be used as an analytical reagent for determining amino acid residues that are important for enzyme activity in other enzymes.
