Pseudoginsenoside FII is a natural compound found in the roots of the plant quinquefolium. It has been shown to have antiproliferation activity against cancer cells and protect neurons from death by glutamate. Pseudoginsenoside FII also inhibits colonic bacterial growth, which may be due to its ability to increase production of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the colonic microflora. This compound is a potent inhibitor of the rotarod test, which may be due to its ability to increase locomotor activity. Pseudoginsenoside FII also inhibits cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity in vivo and has been shown to inhibit cell proliferation through molecular docking analysis in vitro, suggesting that it could be used as an anticancer agent for treating cancers such as prostate cancer or ovarian cancer.
