Beschreibung

Cyanomethyl p-toluenesulfonate is an enamine that can be synthesized by reacting aspartic acid with sodium carbonate and pyridine. It is used in the manufacture of polyesters and chalcones. The reaction product of ethylene glycol, hydroxyethyl methacrylate, and cyanomethylp-toluenesulfonate has been shown to have a high degree of temperature stability. This compound is also useful for staining proteins and nucleic acids because it binds to amino groups. Cyanomethyl p-toluenesulfonate has been used as a synthetic intermediate to produce other compounds such as tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohols, which are used in the production of dyes, pharmaceuticals, and perfumes.
