It is also used in the production of other chemicals and has a variety of industrial uses. n-Octylamine Hydrobromide is most commonly used as a surfactant in detergents, textile processing, and oil field applications. This chemical can be synthesized by reacting n-octanol with bromine at temperatures below 100°C and at pressures above 1 bar. The resulting product will have an average weight of 290.3 grams per mole.
