Beschreibung

(Z)-7-dodecenyl acetate is a natural product and insect pheromone that is used as an insecticide and repellent. This product has been shown to be a potent antagonist of arthropods, specifically the target pest Diploptera punctata. It has been shown that (Z)-7-dodecenyl acetate can be extracted from urine samples by solid phase microextraction with a diode array detector. The odorant binding protein in the olfactory receptor cells binds to the fatty acid portion of this molecule, while the hydroxyl group in the dodecenyl acetate binds to the specific receptors on the olfactory cell surface. It has been shown that (Z)-7-dodecenyl acetate is synthesized by plants such as Pratense l., Mollusca, and Arthropoda.
