Produktinformation
- (1-Bromonaphthalen-2-Yl)Methyl Methyl Ether
1-Bromo-2-methoxymethylnaphthalene is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of allenes. It is an intermediate in the synthesis of naphthylcyclohexanes, which are used as starting materials for benzannulated naphthyl alcohols. The reaction mechanism is cyclization of 1-bromo-2-methoxymethylnaphthalene with potassium tert-butoxide to form a 3,4,5,6 tetrahydropyridine ring. This cyclization reaction is followed by the addition of an allene and then a nucleophile such as potassium or methyl iodide. The synthesis requires refluxing and heating for 12 hours at 190°C.
