This drug has been shown to be active against influenza virus and herpes simplex virus, as well as inhibiting the production of HIV. 2'-Deoxy-5'-O-DMT-5-(methylthio)-uridine 3'-CE phosphoramidite has also been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor cells when combined with other chemotherapeutic agents.
