In addition, it is an inhibitor of the reuptake of serotonin and noradrenaline in the brain. Mosapramine also inhibits the binding of ligands such as β-carbolines, morphine, and LSD to their receptors. Mosapramine is a potent antagonist at the 5-HT2A receptor with an IC50 value of 0.076 μM. Mosapramine is not active against other 5-HT receptors or any other neurotransmitter receptor types tested so far. It has been shown to inhibit cAMP production in human platelets and release in mouse platelets and rat cortical synaptosomes. This drug also has a high purity that allows it for use as a research tool for cell biology and pharmacology studies.
