Hepcidin-20 is a truncated form of the peptide hormone hepcidin-25, which plays a key role in the regulation of iron metabolism in the body. It binds to ferroportin and inhibits its activity, leading to decreased iron absorption from the diet and reduced iron release from cells.The biological significance of hepcidin-20 is still being studied, but it may be involved in the regulation of iron metabolism in certain situations, such as inflammation or certain disease states.
