• Beschreibung: α-Synuclein is a protein that is encoded by the SNCA gene, and is one of the main components of Lewy bodies, which are found in neurons in people with Parkinson's Disease. α-Synuclein has been shown to protect cells from stress and prevent their death. It also acts as a chaperone for other proteins, regulating their activity. This protein has been shown to be able to bind to GTPase activators and inhibit them from activating GTPases. The molecular weight of α-synuclein is 25 kDa and it has a pI value of 4.5. It has an acidic C-terminus and its shift on gel electrophoresis is 11.5 kDa
