• Beschreibung: Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is a peptide hormone that regulates the calcium and phosphate concentrations in the blood. It is produced by the parathyroid gland, located near the thyroid gland in the neck. PTH has three forms: amino-terminal proparathyroid hormone (PTH 1-34), amino-terminal parathyroid hormone fragment 34-84 (PTH 1-34 amide), and carboxy-terminal parathyroid hormone fragment 84-120 (PTH 1-84). The receptor for PTH is called the parathyroid hormone receptor (PTR). The binding of PTH to its receptor leads to activation of adenylate cyclase, which increases levels of intracellular cAMP.
