The inhibition of PTP-1B may be involved in many aspects of cell function, including insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells, glucose metabolism in muscle cells, and cardiac contractility. AS 2521780 is a potential drug target for diabetes mellitus type 2 and heart failure.
