• Beschreibung: Hydrocortisone is a synthetic glucocorticoid that is used as an immunoregulatory and anti-inflammatory agent. It binds to the glucocorticoid receptor, which is found in many cells in the body, including those involved in inflammatory skin diseases. Hydrocortisone has been shown to be effective against lichenified skin conditions. It has a constant binding affinity for the glucocorticoid receptor and can be activated by removal of the 17-valerate group. Hydrocortisone is also known as betamethasone, which is an analog of hydrocortisone that has a hydroxyl group instead of a methyl group on carbon 18. Betamethasone does not bind to the glucocorticoid receptor and therefore does not exhibit any anti-inflammatory properties.
