Beschreibung

Trans-2-undecenoic acid is a fatty acid with a carboxylic acid group at its end. It belongs to the family of antimicrobial agents and has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on growth of certain bacteria. Trans-2-undecenoic acid is used as a microbiocide in cosmetics and personal care products, such as soaps and lotions, to control the growth of bacteria that may cause skin infections. Trans-2-undecenoic acid can be made by hydrogen bonding between two molecules of trans-2-decenoic acid. This reaction takes place in the presence of sodium salts and amide. The resulting compound can be characterized using FTIR spectroscopy or by melting point analysis. Trans-2-undecenoic acid is also a monomer that polymerizes into long chains called polyesters.!--
