Beschreibung:Incyclinide is a novel, synthetic, cell permeable, small-molecule antibiotic that exhibits high antibacterial efficacy and has been shown to kill cancer cells. This compound has demonstrated inhibitory properties on the activity of matrix metalloproteinases such as MMP-9. Incyclinide also inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-1β in human monocytes.
The pharmacokinetics of incyclinide have been studied in humans. The drug is rapidly absorbed with a bioavailability of 100% and reaches peak plasma concentrations within 1 hour after administration. It is excreted unchanged in urine, mainly through glomerular filtration, with an elimination half life of 8 hours.
