Beschreibung

Trimethylsilylketene ethyl trimethylsilyl acetal is a mixture of isomers that catalyzes the formation of an enolate from an aldehyde. This reaction can be used to synthesize ketones, esters, amides, and other compounds. Trimethylsilylketene ethyl trimethylsilyl acetal is prepared by mixing trichloromethyl methyl ether with ethyl formate in the presence of magnesium carbonate and tetrazole. This reaction produces a mixture of isomers in which the ratio of ketene (C=O) to acetal (CH(OR)=O) varies from 1:1 to 3:1. The product can be purified by column chromatography or recrystallization. Trimethylsilylketene ethyl trimethylsilyl acetal is used as an organocatalyst for reactions that require high levels of selectivity and/or stereoselect
