Hydroxypalmitoyl sphinganine is synthetically prepared from hydroxyacetophenone and amines. The reaction product is a white crystalline solid with a melting point of 155°C. This compound has been used as a stabilizer for fatty acids and vitamin D3, which are important for maintaining healthy skin cells.
