Beschreibung

(3S)-3-(4-Hydroxyphenyl)-4-hexynoic acid ee is a drug substance that has been shown to be mediated and synthetic. This compound is synthesized by alkylation of commercially available 4-hydroxyphenylacetonitrile with sodium methoxide in methanol. The process can be scaled up to produce a dihydrate form of the compound. The chiral, acid form of the drug substance was found to have better pharmacokinetics than the salt form. Process development for the scalable synthesis of this compound is underway.
