Ethyl tetrahydro-2-furoate is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have antitubercular activity. It inhibits the DNA synthesis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex. Ethyl tetrahydro-2-furoate has also been shown to have a synergistic effect when combined with doxorubicin, which may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis or inhibit lipid metabolism. Ethyl tetrahydro-2-furoate has a low toxicity profile in mice, but it is not yet known if this drug will show similar effects in humans. The pharmacokinetic properties of ethyl tetrahydro-2-furoate are unknown as there are no data available on the drug's absorption, distribution, metabolism, or excretion.
