• Beschreibung: Sparteines are alkaloids extracted from Legumes of the gender Lupinus acting as sodium channel blockers and antiarrhythmic agents. Interestingly, different Lupinus species can produce opposite enantiomers of Sparteine; for instance the (-) enantiomer is found in Lupinus luteus and the (+) enantiomer is found in Lupinus pusillus, respectively. Sparteine alkaloids find numerous applications in synthetic chemistry, especially in asymmetric lithiation reactions.
