Beschreibung:16β-Hydroxytestosterone is a synthetic androgen that is developed as a male contraceptive. The drug was reconstituted to be injected into the rat liver microsomes, which are the primary site of metabolism. 16β-Hydroxytestosterone inhibits the activities of NADPH-cytochrome P450 reductase (CPR) and cytochrome P450 enzymes, including CYP2D6, CYP3A4, CYP2C19, and CYP1A2. It also inhibits the activity of monoclonal antibodies that bind to CPR. In this study, 16β-hydroxytestosterone has been shown to inhibit the activity of p450 isozymes in Sprague-Dawley rats without affecting other enzyme activities. 16β-Hydroxytestosterone can be used for the treatment of prostate cancer or for contraception in males.
