Beschreibung:Omapatrilat is a vasopeptidase inhibitor that is used in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. It has been shown to lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, and cardiovascular death in people with hypertension and/or coronary artery disease. Omapatrilat blocks the degradation of natriuretic peptides by inhibiting vasopeptidases that break down atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP). This leads to an increase of ANP and BNP levels, which causes a reduction in blood pressure. The effect on blood pressure can be monitored using invasive or non-invasive methods. A dosage range of 10–40 mg per day has been shown to be effective for lowering blood pressure.
