Beschreibung

3-[4-(tert-Butoxycarbonyl)piperazin-1-yl]propanoic acid (Boc-Pip) is a small molecule inhibitor of the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) and mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR). It is a prodrug that is rapidly hydrolyzed in vivo to form propionic acid, which inhibits the activity of PI3K. Boc-Pip has been shown to inhibit tumor cell growth in vitro and in vivo. The drug also inhibits liver cells and lung cancer cells by inducing apoptosis, without affecting normal cells. Boc-Pip has been shown to be cytotoxic in mice with transplanted lung cancer cells, as well as human non-small cell lung cancer cells. Boc-Pip also has anti-inflammatory properties and may have an effect on the environment because it does not bind to DNA or RNA.
