Isobutyltrichlorosilane is a hydrolysis product of silicon tetrachloride that is used as a reagent in organic synthesis. It is synthesized by the reaction of hydrochloric acid and isobutanol. Isobutyltrichlorosilane has been shown to react with water and hydrogen chloride to form hydrogen fluoride and hydrochloric acid.
