Fukinolide is a sesquiterpene lactone compound that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. It inhibits chronic cough in mice by suppressing the activation of microglia and macrophages. Fukinolide also prevents oxidative injury to neurons, which is caused by an increase in reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and mitochondrial dysfunction. Fukinolide was isolated from natural compounds and has been shown to inhibit the inflammatory response in vitro through its binding to the response element. It may be used as a therapeutic agent for treating infectious diseases such as tuberculosis or influenza.
