• Beschreibung: Chevalone B is an antibiotic that is active against a wide range of bacteria, including Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Chevalone B has shown antibacterial activity against Neosartorya fischeri, which causes the disease neosporosis in humans and animals. This drug also inhibits the growth of Chromobacterium violaceum, which can cause fatal infections in immunocompromised individuals. Chevalone B binds to bacterial cell wall peptidoglycan and blocks the synthesis of D-alanine and L-lysine, leading to cell death. The mechanism of action for this drug is similar to that of oxacillin, but it is less active against staphylococci than oxacillin. Chevalone B has been shown to be effective against lung cancer cells in animal studies. It inhibits protein synthesis by binding to ribosomes and inhibiting RNA synthesis by blocking the initiation complex during transcription at the promoter region of DNA.
