Beschreibung:Agitoxin 2 is a peptide with high resistance to the proteolytic activity of various enzymes, including trypsin, pepsin, and chymotrypsin. Agitoxin 2 is a structural analogue of the acetylcholine receptor agonist carbamylcholine. It binds to the alpha subunit of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor and inhibits its activation by acetylcholine. Agitoxin 2 has been shown to be effective in animal models for autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. Agitoxin 2 also has an analgesic effect in animals. The molecule's ability to inhibit the release of inflammatory cytokines may be due to its inhibition of transcription-polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
