Beschreibung

Capromorelin is a growth hormone secretagogue that is an orally active analog of the natural hormone, ghrelin. It is a potent stimulator of gastric motility and secretion and has been shown to increase levels of camp in vivo. Capromorelin has also been found to have immunomodulatory effects on chronic kidney disease patients. An asymmetric synthesis of capromorelin was achieved by reacting l-tartaric acid with hydrochloride ester of caproic acid in the presence of potassium hydroxide in ethanol. Capromorelin tartrate has been shown to be absorbed rapidly after oral administration and undergoes extensive first-pass metabolism in humans, including oxidative deamination by monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A) and deacetylation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, followed by glucuronidation or sulfation.
