25-Hydroxy vitamin D3 3,3'-biotinylaminopropyl ether is a synthetic analog of vitamin D3. It has been used as a research tool to study the effects of vitamin D on ion channels and receptor binding. 25-Hydroxy vitamin D3 3,3'-biotinylaminopropyl ether has been shown to be an activator of the G protein coupled receptor GPR120 and other proteins that are involved in cellular signaling pathways. This drug also inhibits the activity of the enzyme tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B). 25-Hydoxy vitamin D3 3,3'-biotinylaminopropyl ether is soluble in aqueous solutions and can be stored at 4°C for up to one year when protected from light.
