10-O-Vanilloylaucubin is an iridoid compound found in the leaves of Vitex trifolia. It has been shown to have pharmacokinetic properties, and can be used to treat coughs. 10-O-Vanilloylaucubin has also been shown to have anticancer activity, although it is not yet clear whether this effect is due to its ability to inhibit cancer cell proliferation or its ability to induce apoptosis. The mechanism of action for 10-O-Vanilloylaucubin's anticancer activity is not yet known, but may be related to its ability to bind with plasma proteins and thereby inhibit the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and proteins.
