Beschreibung

This is a synthetic compound with the molecular formula C14H18O2. It has been used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other chemicals. It also acts as a herbicide and is marketed under the trade name Roundup. The compound inhibits cell growth by inhibiting protein synthesis, leading to cell death by inhibiting production of proteins vital for cell division. It has been shown to be effective against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, but not against Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Mycobacterium avium complex.
